  • Polymer based resorbable systems have a number of drawbacks which limit their use. Research has now turned to the investigation of bioresorbable metals for use in oral and maxillofacial surgery. This presentation will provide and update and overview into the development of bioresorbable metals

Virtual Reality: Digital Surgical Planning (VR-DSP) presented by Dr. Tim Manzie

  • Virtual reality has become increasingly popular in medical education and surgical planning. This presentation will outline the potential benefits of embracing this technology for surgical planning and for the creation of custom guides and hardware.
Session 4

Updates of Virtual Surgical Planning for Enhanced Precision in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery presented by Dr. Teddy Weifa Yang

  • This presentation will introduce our workflow of virtual surgical planning for daily practice in oral and maxillofacial surgery. A new approach for automatically analyzing skeletal asymmetry using Python scripting will be introduced to facilitate surgical evaluation and planning. We will also provide a brief update on our progress in automating 3D cephalometric evaluations to standardize preoperative surgical planning and postoperative accuracy verification.

3D Technology in Oncological Reconstructive Surgery presented by Dr. Salvatore Bataglia

  • 3D technology has lately improved outcomes in reconstructive surgery. This presentation will report the evolution of 3D technology and the timeline of achievements in reconstructive head and Neck surgery, focusing on the modern technologies and reporting the Catania experience.
