Maxillary dental rehabilitation presents a unique set of challenges, particularly in cases of severely atrophic maxillas and/or post-ablative defects. This IAOMS webinar will explore three distinct approaches for maxillary rehabilitation: zygomatic implants, patient specific subperiosteal implants, and traditional dental implants with grafting. Through expert presentations and detailed discussions, participants will gain insight into the specific indications, surgical protocols, and expected outcomes associated with each method, along with potential complications and patient management considerations.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
1. Understand Patient Selection Criteria for Maxillary Rehabilitation
- Recognize the clinical factors that determine the choice between zygomatic, patient specific subperiosteal, and traditional implants with grafting.
- Identify patient-specific indications for each implant type, based on maxillary bone quality and rehabilitation needs.
2. Compare Surgical Techniques and Protocols
- Analyze the procedural nuances and challenges of zygomatic implants, patient specific subperiosteal implants, and traditional implants with grafting techniques.
- Discuss the differences in surgical complexity, intraoperative requirements, and post-surgical recovery for each approach.
3. Evaluate Outcomes, Complications, and Long-Term Management
- Assess the short- and long-term outcomes, success rates, and potential complications associated with each implant option.
- Outline follow-up care and long-term maintenance strategies for each approach, including patient education and required adjustments.
This webinar aims to provide oral and maxillofacial surgeons with valuable insights and practical guidelines, enhancing their ability to select and implement the most appropriate maxillary rehabilitation technique to optimize patient outcomes.
