  • The participants will learn surgical techniques for successful mandibular contouring surgery especially focused on mandibular angle resection. 
  •  The participants will learn the application of patient-specific guides for mandibular contouring surgery and review the cases and clinical results. 
  •  The participants will be able to understand complications and precautions for mandibular contouring surgery. 
  • The participants will be able to learn the mandibular width control during mandibular orthognathic surgery by segment rotation and resection.   

Dr. Soyoung Kwon

Prof. Kwon trained at Dept. of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) of Kyungpook National University Hospital, Daegu, Korea. He carried out basic and clinical research at Osaka University, Japan (1998~1999), University of Michigan (2007~2009) and University of Illinois Chicago (2019). His research has focused on craniofacial bone regeneration and orthognathic surgery. Since 2003, he has been working at the Department of OMFS, School of Dentistry, Kyungpook National University (KNU) as a professor and the head of the department.   He currently serves as the director of KNU Dental Hospital and the president-elect of Korean Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He had received various academic awards from Ministry of Health and Welfare, Korean Association of Dental Science and Korean Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons for major contributions to the specialty and dedication. He published 120 international publications and wrote 15 book chapters mainly in the field of dentofacial deformity, bone regeneration and pathological bone disease.   About: This webinar aims to understand the facial contouring surgery especially for a intergonial width, and a strong mandibular angle and the masseter muscles. Angle ostectomy can be performed with various methods and computer-assisted surgery and 3D-printed surgical guide can minimize the surgical discrepancy and increase safety.  tion 

1. The participants will learn about the different types of bony and soft tissue reconstruction options and understand the UIC reconstruction philosophy.

2. The participants will learn about nerve reconstruction including why allogenic nerves are preferred and the benefits of immediate reconstruction.

3. The participants will learn the indications and contraindications to immediate dental reconstruction.
