Thomas Schlieve DDS, MD, FACS

Dr. Thomas Schlieve DDS, MD, FACS, is a board certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with advanced fellowship training in Oral/Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery. He is currently the Graduate Program director for the Parkland/UT Southwestern Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training program. The Parkland program is one of the largest, busiest, and most respected oral surgery training programs in the country.  His clinical practice focuses on the surgical treatment of diseases of the head and neck including oral and tongue cancers, benign and malignant jaw tumors and salivary gland tumors..  
 
Dr. Schlieve was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and obtained his undergraduate education with the University of Wisconsin, completing a B.S. in biology.  Following his undergraduate studies, he was educated in both dentistry (at Marquette University School of Dentistry) and medicine (at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport School of Medicine).  Dr. Schlieve completed a four year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery and internship in General Surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center under the guidance of Dr. Michael Miloro before continuing his training in an accredited Oral/Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery Fellowship program at the University of Tennessee Medical Center and Cancer Institute with Dr. Eric Carlson. 

A diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Schlieve has lectured both nationally and internationally.  He has authored multiple scientific articles and text book chapters in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and participates in community-wide outreach efforts to raise awareness of oral cancers.
 
Dr. Schlieve is affiliated with the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center, the only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in North Texas (NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers are among the most advanced in the world) as well as the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Zale Lipshy University Hospital, Parkland Memorial Hospital, JPS Hospital, Dallas Presbyterian Hospital and Children’s Me.
