Dr. Gabriele Millesi and Prof. Federico Hernandez-Alfaro are featured speakers for this IAOMS Scientific Webinar, focusing on Minimally Invasive Orthognathic Surgery Vs. Traditional. Dr. Majeed Rana will moderate — 10:00 AM CT/ 5:00 PM CET. This webinar will compare classic approaches in orthognathic surgery and minimally invasive approaches. During the webinar, Professor Gabriele Millesi and Professor Frederico Hernandez Alfaro will present their experiences with a variety of indications and a variety of surgical procedures, after which Professor Majeed Ranna.
Learning Objectives:
1. Participants will become acquainted with the different approaches, both classic and minimally invasive, to performing Orthognathic surgeries.
2. Participants will learn to identify the various indications that lead to the recommendation to perform classic vs. minimally invasive surgery.
3. Participants will be exposed to different workflows in the planning of surgery, the performance of surgery, and the follow-up post-operative period, as well as to the various complications that may arise following each type of approach.

Gabriele A. Millesi is an Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Vienna, Austria. After organizing the 2005 International Conference of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Vienna, she became Chairperson of the Task Force Future Issues of the Profession Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for the IAOMS. A Global Survey for Members and Trainees was performed and the results are being used to understand the needs of future generations in the IAOMS. Currently, she is the Immediate Past President of IAOMS.
Federico Hernández-Alfaro

Federico Hernández-Alfaro MD, DDS, PhD, FEBOMS is a Full Professor and Chief of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery International University of Catalonia / Teknon Medical Center. He is the author of the books "Grafts in Implant Dentistry", "Advanced Implant Surgery", "Bone Grafting in Oral Implantology" and "Controversial Issues in Implant Dentistry".He is also a member of the Editorial Board of the European Journal of Oral Implantology and of the Spanish Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Professor and Chairman, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Hebrew University-Hadassah Faculty of Dental Medicine, Jerusalem, Israel
Nardi Casap D.M.D., M.D. is a professor and chairman of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Hebrew University-Hadassah Faculty of Dental Medicine, Jerusalem, Israel. After completing his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the Hadassah Medical Center, he spent two years in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. Prof. Casap is a past chairman of the Israeli Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the Israel chancellor of the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is an active member of the Israel Dental Association Scientific Committee, Chairman of the Israeli Maxillofacial Professional Committee, and Chairman of the National Accreditation Committee for Dental Specialization Programs. Prof. Casap is a member of the editorial boards of the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Quintessence International, and numerous others. He has over 70 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. His main research interests are orthognathic and craniofacial surgery, navigation surgery systems, bone reconstruction, bone morphogenetic proteins, endoscopic surgery, and periosteal distraction.
