This webinar will cover laryngectomy for malignancy of the endolarynx and proximal trachea, supraglottis and piriform recess as well as laryngopharygectomy. Reconstruction will be discussed including primary closure of the pharynx and flap options to buttress primary closure and for pharyngeal wall replacement. Tracheal stoma construction will also be covered.
Eric J. Dierks, MD, DMD, FACS, FACD, FRCS(Ed)
Dr. Eric Dierks is a graduate in both medicine and dentistry from the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky USA. His residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery was done at the Christiana Medical Center of Delaware, and his residency in otolaryngology- head and neck surgery was completed at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas (Parkland Memorial Hospital). He is board-certified in both specialties. Dr. Dierks practices within the Head and Neck Surgical Associates in Portland, Oregon where his practice consists of head and neck oncologic and reconstructive surgery, craniomaxillofacial trauma, as well as traditional oral surgery. He has directed a fellowship in head and neck oncologic and reconstructive surgery since 1992 and has seen his many trainees go on to significant surgical careers in North America and around the world. He has over 100 publications related to his areas of interest.
