Leaders and Team Members possess positional power and authority which has influence over others in the organization. Individuals have been ascribed Power Levers that are a result of their position. Additionally, members “achieve” a certain degree of power because of their accomplishments. These achievements are a result of how effectively they utilize power levers to influence others.
Influence is the ability to move, sway and modify conditions and resources supported by people in the organization. Influence is about moving people and assuring their support and ownership in “the project.” Learning how to effectively use personal and professional Power Levers to influence others is an acquired skill requiring attention to the needs of others and the requirements of the goal/project.
- Learn proven tactics to build alliances with “non-supporters.”
- Understand how to use your Power Levers to make a difference.
- Build trust with “fence-sitters” and rebuild trust with contrarians.
